Ume is our spring seasonal glaze, available through the end of July. A luminous pale chartreuse that sits right at the edge of yellow — the color of fresh-picked nanko-ume as they ripen. Named for the Japanese plum, made to order in our East Providence, Rhode Island studio. When the season ends, Ume retires. No restocks.
This 4-piece place setting includes a Dinner Plate (10.5"), Appetizer Plate (8"), Tasting Bowl (6"), and your choice of everyday bowl - Basso or Helping Bowl. Save 10% compared to buying individually.
Choose the Basso Bowl if you love pasta, risotto, and anything saucy. At 9 inches, it's a shallow bowl-plate hybrid with a wide, flat base for plating and gently curved walls that keep sauces right where you want them. A favorite among chefs.
Choose the Helping Bowl if you reach for a deep, generous bowl most nights. At 8 inches and 32oz, it's built for ramen, grain bowls, and anything brothy.
Ume complements our six permanent glazes and was made to mix into an existing collection. Canyon's warm terracotta creates a striking contrast against Ume's cool fruit tone. Verdigris is its quieter companion, two greens that feel related rather than matched.
On the plate, Ume earns its name. Spring produce finds its foil in pale chartreuse: asparagus, snap peas, early strawberries. Grilled food works just as well. Something about char against this glaze is deeply satisfying, and we didn't expect it either.
Made to order, ships in approximately 3 to 4 weeks.
Ume is a Studio Edition glaze, separate from our six Core colors but made to work alongside them. Want to mix it into a core place setting? Just email us.
